My Malibu Farm photo brings me straight back to lunch: salmon, green beans, little potatoes, an egg and lemon in the glass. It is exactly the kind of plate that makes a coastal afternoon feel like a proper break. For the clothes, I would keep the same mood: easy shapes, a little color and nothing that needs fussing with at the table.

What to wear to Malibu Farm
Start with a pale blue cotton shirt and olive wide-leg cropped trousers. The shirt gives the outfit a little structure; the shorter trouser length keeps it relaxed. Add chestnut slip-on clogs for a cooler day and a small black shoulder bag when you only need the essentials. These are outfit ideas, not pieces I wore in the lunch photo.

Lunch on Malibu Pier
For planning a Malibu Pier visit, there are two Malibu Farm stops to know: the restaurant is at the start of the pier and the cafe is at the end. The address is 23000 Pacific Coast Highway. Check the official Malibu Pier page before setting off so you choose the one you mean.
The restaurant lists brunch as walk-in and dinner reservations from 4:30 p.m. Check the current dining details for your visit. My photo is the lunch inspiration here, rather than a promise that the same plate will be on the menu.
A navy-trim canvas tote is the more practical bag if the afternoon includes more than lunch. I like the contrast of canvas with the blue shirt. Tie a tangerine silk scarf at the handle for a brighter accent, then keep the rest quiet. tortoiseshell sunglasses finish that combination without making it feel dressed up.

A warmer afternoon, a softer shoe
If the weather is warm, trade the clogs for tan leather slide sandals. They make the blue-and-olive outfit feel lighter. Choose one shoe for the day, not both; the clogs are the cozier option, while the open slides suit an afternoon when you do not need the extra coverage.
For jewelry, gold beaded button earrings give a simple shirt enough of a finish. A malachite green hair pin brings another small hit of color. I would use the scarf or the hair pin as the main accent rather than adding everything at once.

Bring one extra layer
The pier can be windy, so I would tuck a camel fleece turtleneck into the tote. The warm color works with the chestnut clogs and keeps the outfit from becoming an all-blue beach uniform. A wide-brim ivory hat is an option for a sunny afternoon; leave it behind if the wind makes it more trouble than it is worth. For the tote, I would add a mineral sunscreen stick and a tinted lip balm with SPF; the sun off the water is always stronger than it feels.
That is the balance I like for Malibu Farm: one comfortable outfit that still feels considered, with room for a long lunch and a little time by the water afterward. A small portable phone charger in the tote means the afternoon can run as long as it likes.
