What to wear in London depends on the day you have planned. A museum morning, a long walk and dinner do not need three different suitcases. My London photos are a reminder to pack clothes that move with you: trousers, a soft layer, a coat and shoes you have already broken in. Leave room for one dress and a small bag for dinner.

What to Wear in London for Museums and Walking
Start with a simple outfit you can repeat. I would wear black wide-leg trousers with a knit, a crossbody bag and comfortable shoes. Add a trench when the forecast calls for a light outer layer. A museum can mean several hours on your feet, then more walking to lunch. A shoe that only feels comfortable for a photograph does not earn its place in the bag.
Check the forecast close to departure, and check again before leaving the hotel. London packing changes with the season. The looks here are ideas for a mild or cool day, not a promise that one light coat will be enough in winter. On a wet day, swap the loafer for footwear you know can handle rain and slippery pavements.
London Designers and British Brands to Browse
ME+EM designs from a London studio. RIXO began in a London living room, and DeMellier is a London-based handbag label. Boden started with a small catalogue in West London. These are British and London design stories, not a claim that every piece is manufactured in England. Read the individual product page if where it is made matters to you.
ME+EM Travel Tailoring Wide-Leg Trousers
The ME+EM Luxe Travel Tailoring Wide-Leg Pant in black is my starting point for the airport-to-museum outfit. The product page describes a high rise, relaxed wide leg and pull-on elasticated waist, with two lengths. Choose the length for the shoes you will actually wear. I would add a plain tee or knit rather than a second statement piece.
Boden Cashmere Cardigans for a Useful Layer
A cardigan works over a tee, on the plane and with a dress at dinner. Browse Boden cashmere cardigans and choose a color that repeats with the rest of your packing list. This link opens the current range, not one fixed cardigan. I would choose cream, navy or gray before adding another color that needs its own shoes and bag.
Boden Trench and Chocolate Loafers
The Boden Double Breasted Trench in camel is the polished city layer. Check its current fabric and care details rather than assuming that a trench is a technical raincoat. The Boden Super Soft Flexi Loafer in Bitter Chocolate is the dressier flat option for a dry day. Try any new pair at home before relying on it for a full museum day.
DeMellier Vancouver Bag for Day and Dinner
The DeMellier Vancouver in Tan Small Grain with Ecru Stitching gives a simple outfit some shape. The product page is the guide to the leather, strap and dimensions; do not choose only by the name in a shopping widget. Pack just the essentials and check that your phone and everyday items fit. A small bag should not turn a walk into a juggling act.
RIXO Izzy Shirt Dress for a Dinner Change
The RIXO Izzy Shirt Dress in Rose Spot Black is the printed dress direction. The current page lists regular and petite fits, a midi length and three-quarter sleeves. I would wear it with a flat or a low shoe and let the print do the work. Check the current size guide and care instructions before ordering. It is a shopping idea, not a dress I am claiming to have worn in these photos.

Museums and Things to Do in London
The V&A is a natural starting point for a trip built around clothes and design. Browse the permanent collections and check the current exhibition list before choosing tickets. Its Schiaparelli exhibition connects fashion and art, but temporary exhibitions change, so use the museum’s own page for the current dates and booking details. V&A exhibition information.
The V&A National Art Library is another place to read about before visiting. It is a working library, not a room to treat as an unrestricted sightseeing stop; check its visitor and reader guidance. National Art Library visitor information.
The British Museum makes a good separate museum day rather than a rushed extra stop. Its Great Court is worth seeing for the glass roof as well as the collections beyond it. Pick the galleries you care about instead of trying to cover the whole building. The museum advises booking a free ticket in advance for priority entry at busy times; special exhibitions have their own tickets. Plan a British Museum visit.
Where to Eat After a London Museum Day
Choose lunch near the part of London you are exploring rather than crossing the city just because a restaurant is on a list. If your day moves toward Soho, The Devonshire on Denman Street is one option for a pub and restaurant stop. My trip also included food and time around the river, which belongs in a separate London day rather than squeezing every sight into one route. Check the restaurant’s current menu and booking arrangements before making plans. The Devonshire.
What to Pack for London
Pack two tops for each pair of trousers, one cardigan, your coat and one dress that works with the same bag and shoes. Add socks, underwear, sleepwear and the toiletries you actually use. A compact umbrella is useful, but it does not replace a coat suited to the forecast. Keep medicines, travel documents, a charger and any adapter you need in your hand luggage.
My complete museum-day outfit would be the ME+EM trousers, a simple top, the Boden cardigan and trench, chocolate loafers on a dry day and the DeMellier bag. For dinner, change into the RIXO dress and keep the cardigan and bag. Add a familiar walking shoe for long days rather than expecting a single dressy flat to do every job.
