Summer Travel Tips for Gordes Provence France

Summer travels are always so much fun because the weather is beautiful and people are generally more carefree. We decided to go to France this summer and we started our trip off in Provence. The South of France is a lot to take in. My suggestion is to make some decisions by doing your research before you get on the plane. We only had enough time to see a few places during our week in the South of Provence and we didn’t get to see everything. Here is how we did it.

We flew from Los Angeles into Paris and took the train from the Charles De Gaulle airport to Avignon. We took a direct flight for 10.5 hours from LAX on Air Tahiti Nui and then took the TGV train from the airport to Avignon France. From there we rented a car with Hertz rental car company and drove 1 hour to Gordes and started our vacation from there. We stayed with my husband’s cousin for a few days who lives in the town of Gordes and they gave us advice on places to drive to and see. Since Gordes is located in the Vaucluse region in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region in southeastern France, we explored areas that were located an hour or less around Gordes.

We really loved the town of Gordes. It had a bustling historical town center that had 2 bakeries, shops, and the luxury hotel La Bastide de Gordes which had an amazing Sunday brunch. We walked around the cobblestone streets and tried croissants and baguettes from both bakeries.

The buffet at the La Bastide de Gordes was 65 Euros per person and it including unlimited champagne. The buffet included oysters, muscles, cheese, meats, breads, baked goods, and desserts. We only tried about 20% of what they had available at the buffet and it was all delicious. The view of the valley from the outdoor seating was breathtaking.

We spent about 3 hours that morning sitting and watching the view while slowly enjoying our food. My daughter is seen here in a palm print top and shorts set with a travel pouch from Sweatnsk.com.

My outfit seen here are Linda Farrow sunglasses, Aquazzura tassel sandals, and an Ulla Johnson linen dress since the weather was about 40 degrees celcius.
