- Participate in #followfriday.
The premise of #followfriday is simple: you network with other Instagram feeds and share a collage of their photos to increase exposure. This is your personal recommendation to your followers. Other accounts will recommend your feed, and your follower count will jump.
- Tag brands in your photos.
Fashion bloggers who tag the brands they wear are sometimes reposted by the brand itself, which exposes their feed to thousands more followers.
- Host a giveaway.
Giveaways are a fun and popular way to bring people to your feed. Encourage them to share and follow to increase their chances of winning.
- Be patient.
Social media is constantly in flux. There will be days that you can’t keep up with the tide of shares and new followers, and there will be days that feel like all the work isn’t amounting to anything. Don’t give up in slow periods. Perseverance is key.
- Don’t buy followers.
Buying followers populates your feed with empty accounts. It might make your numbers look good, but it doesn’t actually increase exposure or popularity.
